SUMMER OUTING 2016

We booked for the 27th June 2016 and took fourteen members of our WI for an afternoon out. We were blessed with one of the best days sofar weather wise with glorious sunshine all afternoon. Charles met us in the car park next to a herd of the most clean lovely looking cows and calves we have ever seen. Charles took us on an informative stroll around the gardens telling us all about his family inherited home and the surrounding gardens. He is very passionate about ecological issues having his own solar panels, one dating back to the early 1980’s.

He told us about his wild flowers strips in his fields to promote wildlife, and the moat surrounding his house which saved the house from flooding during really bad rainfall which flooded most of the villages nearby. We met Kris on our way round, he was doing the weeding in the flower beds.

This stroll was at a pace to suit everyone in our party and on ground that was suitable for all.

We were then left to wander the grounds at our own pleasure while Charles went to set out our afternoon tea.

Charles had been busy that morning baking his famous home made scones and made the jam the day before.

Tea was wonderful, the tea pots never ran dry and the scones and home made cake were delicious.

We all enjoyed the afternoon out which was rounded up with a visit to Kris’s lovely little garden plants and gifts shop.
